Providing visitors with information about Bloomberg New Contemporaries and the exhibition at Primary, alongside informing visitors about additional information of the other galleries in the New Midlands Group.
My role involved providing excellent and pro-active customer service based on guidelines, and tailored to the different visitors’ background in order to create a unique experience suited for each visitor. This included providing visitors with information about the current exhibitions and all aspects of Bonington Gallery including the building and facilities, forthcoming exhibitions, events and activities, and information about the local area.
The role involved opening and closing the gallery, preparing the exhibitions and to deliver with confidence an introduction to the wider curatorial and artistic context of the exhibitions to both the public and industry professionals. The role also required leading volunteers by my own initiative and making decisions independently. It also involved assisting with interviewing volunteers for the gallery and documenting gallery events in writing and through documentary photography alongside administration work. Other duties included running the social media platforms.
