Natalie has an eye for detail, and a passion for honest, documentary story telling through the process of film photography. The light weight and manoeuvrable nature of 35mm photography enables Natalie to capture candid moments with love, care and attention, both in the studio and on the road at live shows.
Natalie’s eye and artistic expression stems heavily from her background in fine art. Her pictures stretch beyond the realm of just documentary or reportage photography; as can be seen in her thoughtful compositions, tone, form and texture of her final pieces. She encourages herself to not only look at the wider, longer story beyond each subject, but how each frame can stand alone comfortably, whether on a gallery wall, in a book, an artists Instagram page or on an album cover.
ARTIST’S STATEMENT: ‘‘I have this thing for music and photography. I grew up happily sifting through my Father’s records, admiring the images within them whilst listening for hours and hours. The Stones, The Beatles, Pink Floyd, Eric Clapton, to name a few; they really caught my imagination and definitely made me wish I was alive back then with a camera. I love how both light and sound are non-tactile, yet both have the ability to really make the viewer feel something, which is why i enjoy documenting live performances and creating intimate portraits.
I personally love that we live in a very visual world in 2020, but my true passion doesn’t come from instancy and digital perfection. Much like my taste in music, I like to focus my attention on creating something that makes the viewer feel the way I intended, however raw and unedited and ‘imperfect’ it may be.’’
