About me
Hello, I’m Natalie. I’m a multidisciplinary graphic, web & UI/UX designer and videographer with a focus on branding, digital design, and user-oriented communications design. I use my skills in design and communication to help businesses grow. I am looking for a full-time role as a Creative Lead, Senior Designer or Design Lead.

I co-founded a design and production studio side project, Flashbang Studio, in 2017, catering to a handful of entertainment clients doing everything from graphics and branding to video production and art direction, while working at my tech startup day jobs. In 2019, our company turned over 3x more than 2018, so I left my day job to do it full time in October – and by January 2020 we had turned over over £100k, and won an award for Best Design Agency SME in London.  My role covers brand creation, brand design and development, web design and UX/UI planning, storyboarding, video production, filming, lighting, directing actors, models and non-actors in front of a camera; editing and cutting, pre-launch marketing and negotiation of costs, services and time. We have been fortunate enough to work on the entire design, video and brand lead-up to the 2019 immersive theatre production Jeff Wayne’s The War of the Worlds: The Immersive Experience, for which we were originally hired to create a making-of documentary series but it soon led to the client realising we were capable of much more: we designed and built their website, ticket booking experience; street windows, programme, corporate brochure, advertising campaign including tube and outdoor billboards, and two cinematic trailers which were shown on the big screen at London MCM Comic Con alongside the Hollywood film releases of the month. I worked on this all while having a full-time job at Elder – and it was because of this success and the subsequent jobs we won that I decided to pursue this venture full-time. We then hired people to run sales and PR, and I found myself running a team in my own company.  We were also hired again by Elder to work on their social media and video creation once I’d left, and we created a cartoon animation for them using 2d illustrations and a voiceover which I recorded and edited of myself playing the voice of the character suited to their brand. We have since been commissioned by five separate former Elder employees to work on their personal side projects or contracts for their current employers.

    Creative LeadElder Care
     - London, United KingdomFull Time
I began life at Elder on the Product team designing the world’s first web application for integrating carers with elderly people in need, as the team stood at 15. I designed the UX and visual design of a web app for use on mobile and desktop by the elderly and less tech-savvy, and also designed the sales and marketing brochures aimed at an older demographic of people looking for care for their elderly parents.  By the time I left the company had expanded to 68. I kickstarted and led the reformation of the brand and integrated it across all teams, pushing for autonomy within teams where needed, allowing them to smoothly move from the old to the new. I was promoted to Creative Lead, after moving from Product to the Brand team a year before I left, and I created the new brand identity which the company still uses today.  I also had the chance to use my video production skills – early on I was responsible for creating a photo-booth setup for when carers would come into the office for an interview, to have their photo taken, and a short video shot explaining their role as a carer and why they’d be a good fit for a client. The idea stuck, and having your video shown to potential clients is now one of the main reasons a family would choose a particular carer. I also filmed and edited interviews with people from the health and social care industry.

Received MISTD award for a book I designed aiming to bridge the gap between sufferers of anorexia and bulimia and those trying to help them recover successfully. The brief was to create a printed piece on anything using just typography. I worked with psychiatrists and therapists as well as interviewed twenty-five patients at various stages of sickness and recovery to create a concertina-style book detailing the descent into the grip of the illness the first way you read it and the emergence into a state of recovery the opposite way, allowing for relapses and breakthroughs along the way that sent you through the page to the other side.
