Commercial Marketing AssistantSheffield Hallam Students' Union
    Sheffield, United KingdomFreelance
As the part time Commercial Marketing Assistant to Sheffield Hallam Students' Union, I assist with managing the marketing, social media and promotional functions to the Commercial outlets. These includes the University merchandise stall, the online merchandise stall, coffee shop, bar and restaurant. One of my main tasks is that of social media, in which I independently manage the five social media channels for the Commercial outlets. Using my skills in photography, filmmaking, stop motion, design and general creative abilities, I produce portfolios of engaging and compelling digital content that has contributed to building brand awareness and the development of a strong online community. Drawing on my knowledge of online, digital and social trends has been critical to performing effectively in this role. Constantly being presented with requirements from the four outlets, I regularly have multitask, effectively time manage, systematically prioritize and work at the utmost efficiency in order to satisfy all needs, whilst upholding brand image and content consistency, in a timely manner. In addition, I aid the promotion of new products, commercial events and university-wide events through social media, digital and print marketing efforts, which has helped to drive footfall and sales. It is my responsibility to maintain the Commercial areas of the website, which involves me adding/updating products and outlet information, writing content, providing images, ensuring brand consistency and general digital maintenance. On a regular basis, I also assist with the development of branded artwork in order to satisfy the marketing requirements of the Commercial functions. Due to my love for the Students Union, I regularly get involved in other opportunities/projects outside of my role to further broaden my experience and skillset.

    Events & Marketing InternIntel Corp.
     - Swindon, United KingdomInternship
My 13month Industrial Placement at Intel allowed me to learn the fundamentals for successful corporate events and corporate marketing, in a B2B context. Events & Marketing: Working on a large number of global events, I would help in handling pre-show logistics, on-site execution and post-show requirements. As I was heavily involved in arranging all pre-show deliverables, I constructed progress trackers and spreadsheets that allowed me to meet all deadlines, and guided planning meetings with comprehensive progress and status updates. Deliverables included: identifying products to exhibit, arranging venues, organising large volumes of shipments, conducting purchase orders as well as arranging travel, hotels and catering. Organisational, time management, a meticulous eye for detail and multitasking abilities were imperative to perform these tasks correctly. I was responsible for independently managing the event meeting schedule for all events that I worked on. As owner of each event schedule, I would build the event tool before proceeding to manage the whole event schedule, overseeing all bookings, attending to technical issues, problem-solving conflicts and ensuring the general logistics were handled efficiently. Having to manage multiple executive/director schedules simultaneously, I've built on my multitasking, time management, scheduling, administration and diary management skills. Due to the global makeup of my team, completing all of the above involved working autonomously on a daily basis. In the latter months, I independently project managed and lead the entire execution of a trade show and conference in Germany. Leading all planning meetings, arranging all deliverables and meeting all pre-show requirements and deadlines, before going onsite as programme manager and executing the event with the utmost success, gave me immense satisfaction. But, still able to show creativity: I was often praised for my use of creative flair in producing marketing materials and official collateral that were distributed to our customers and partners. It was my ability to craft an exciting story from the technical products we were showcasing, and communicate them in an engaging way, that made me solely responsible for independently crafting these B2B marketing materials with a "creative twist". Furthermore, once my creative nature was realized, I was tasked with coming up with an innovative promotional strategy for use at a conference. In order to do this, I first went away and undertook in-depth research, exercising great attention to detail, to ensure I fully understood the technology and what I was promoting. Then, I developed an idea for the conference, that would give the delegates a light-hearted and engaging promotional technique that successfully advertised the technology, whilst not distracting too much from the seriousness of the conference. It involved handing out free giveaways of "conference survival packs" which contained a number of coffee capsules, condiments and an information card about the technology. Delegates were instructed that they could redeem their coffee from their packs at the Intel coffee machines. Having blue footprint stickers across the conference floor, gave the delegates a fun way to locate the Intel coffee machine, which was also crafted to visually tell the story of the technology being promoted. My team loved the idea and said it was just right for the audience, technology, and was exactly the spark of creativity they were looking for. Management approved my "conference survival kit" idea and it was implemented at the conference. When coaching my pre-decessing intern, I soon discovered that she was a visual learner, and that the data heavy meetings I was holding to teach her the role, were not working very well. I used my eye for design and compelling visuals to construct guides, images and presentations that visually conveyed even the most mechanical of processes in an engaging and easily-digestible way. It wasn't long after I started making these, that she really, hit the ground running! For our Intern leavers ball, I was one of the leading members on the organisation committee. In particular, when coming up with ideas for decoration, centerpieces and general display of the ballroom, I came up with some compelling visuals and sculpture ideas to add to the ambiance of the event, which were well received by my team. Due to my practical and hands on nature, I then went ahead and got stuck into constructing the many elements that made up the decoration and props to the room, which resulted in beautiful masterpieces that were complemented by employees across the company.
