With every new line, there’s a new story. This is the philosophy that guides me through each piece. Every contour should read like a region on a map; mountainous areas of texture, rugged plains of colour, abstract forms setting the boarder between notions of new ideas. As an illustrator, the excitement comes from harnessing experimentation and turning it into something readable. Using word association as a starting point, I try to generate as many ideas as possible and explore not only the subject matter, but also its many counterparts. I am currently working on editorial pieces – work designed to accompany articles in magazines and newspapers. This means the subject matter can be quite sporadic, ranging from cookery magazines, to short stories and articles regarding women’s health. I predominantly use Indian ink to create initial sketches and piece everything together in Photoshop.
