Nick Tree is a multi award winning director, writer and musician based across Surrey and London. His style is predominantly a short form, highly sensitive approach to storytelling through films about human connections
“I was always told that I was a highly sensitive kid, so I’ve tried to hold onto that and use it throughout my work. I love that a story can make people feel less alone, like they’re being seen. For me it is about being sensitive enough to connect with the audience on a human level every time. The only way that I know how to do that is to become obsessed and work tirelessly to capture authentic performances that will engage and hopefully inspire the viewer.”
In November 2018 his short charity film ‘A Coat Tale’ was named as one of the top 6 best Christmas adverts of the year by Marketing week, alongside the hugely acclaimed John Lewis commercial.
In 2017 Nick won the ‘Best Cinematographer’ and ‘Best Editor’ awards at the London Fashion Film Festival. Earlier that same year he picked up a ‘British Media Award’ and an ‘International Marketing Content Award’ for a series of advertorial films that he directed for Time Inc.
As well as a career in film making Nick is an accomplished musician, writer and singer. Currently writing and recording for Sony’s music publisher ‘Extreme Music’ as well as working alongside long-time collaborator and producer Tom Keech on bespoke music for his commercial and film content.

- The Sun - Eur All InvitedWhen I was a boy, every 2 years came a summer that revolved entirely around a national football tournament. My memories of this time are some of my absolute favourites and as you’ll know if you share these memories, blue tacking a wall chart onto your bedroom wall was essential to help guide us through those exciting 4 weeks. - Isolated TreesThis all started when my daughter said that she had never heard the birds in the garden before. I realised that the sound of the cars usually drowns them out so I started to record her on my phone and ask her questions about the current ‘feeling’ and being stuck at home. I followed these little soundbites up by capturing occasional bits of footage over the past 3 weeks and now this is what we have created. I hope it is enjoyable for you to watch.
