About me
I specialise in helping new entrants and mid-career women start and sustain their careers in film and television production.
In conjunction with Sara Putt Associates, a crew agency based at Shepperton Studios, I run schemes that help diverse new entrants to film and TV drama develop the social and business skills they need to be successful freelance crew. I also set up and ran the world-renowned Women in Film & TV Mentoring Scheme for eight years.
For the past four years I have been working with ex-offenders and those who have experienced homelessness, some of whom are now successfully working behind the camera.
Prior to this I originated, wrote and pitched proposals for award-winning documentaries, docu-dramas and interactive TV events for a range of UK channels including the BBC and Sky Arts. I also spent two years in NYC, pitching lifestyle TV formats to the US cable market.
For nine years I edited TVMole.com, a website that provided industry intelligence to help TV professionals and aspiring filmmakers get their programme ideas commissioned.
I've written two books to help filmmakers understand development, commissioning and funding: 'Greenlit: Developing Factual / Reality TV Ideas From Concept to Pitch' and 'Give Me the Money and I'll Shoot! Finance Your Factual TV/Film Project'.
