About me
Having held a variety of roles in my 23-year career – from launching new titles as Editor to art directing shoots as Art Editor – I am familiar with all parts of the magazine production process. Indeed, I am a highly experienced, all-round publishing professional who can provide high-quality content, eye-catching visuals and all-round magazine-making prowess!
Three years ago, as Editor at Community Inspired, I led the launch of FundEd Magazine and the accompanying website (funded.org.uk), providing targeted, engaging and practical advice on income generation for school leaders. Given that it was a new title I planned everything from the brand identity to editorial tone; commissioning features, working with advertisers to produce advertorials, producing marketing collateral, as well as managing workflow, schedules and budgets with my small team of part-time writers, designers and sub-editors.
My role as Commissioning Editor for online content at The Key for School Leaders, helped to prove how adept I am at picking up new systems and software. Having demonstrated my broad skill set and ability to think strategically, my initial contract was extended to help rollout a new brand identity. Working closely with both the content and design teams this has involved creating a suite of new document templates and writing GDPR-compliant model release forms for photoshoots.
I believe that my background enables me to think creatively about content solutions where words and visuals work together for maximum impact; with the versatility to approach an article with the audience in mind – what will thrill and excite readers and advertisers and what’s the most compelling way to convey this story?
I feel confident liaising with colleagues in my team, as well as across the wider business, and pride myself on my people skills – in developing individuals and by maintaining a level of professional positivity at all times.
I believe that my substantial publishing and management experience and consumer-, hobby- and B2B-magazine background (in print and online) is pretty unique and I hope that you consider me for any exciting roles that require a blend of editing skills, design flair and commercial savviness.
Since 2019 I have worked in the charity fundraising sector, organising a variety of activity including face-to-face events, applying for grants, crowdfunding and other community-building activities. I am currently studying for the Chartered Institute of Fundraising's Certificate in Fundraising qualification.

Editorial DirectorCommunity Inspired Ltd

I joined Community Inspired as freelance Art Editor on PTA+ Magazine. This quickly became permanent and in 2011 I took over as Editor, launching the PTA+ website. From then I successfully created engaging, relevant content with a small team and tight budget. In September 2014 I worked with our web developer to redesign the website, populating content using the Umbraco CMS platform (in March 2018 the website had 165,754 unique users with over 769,096 page views a year). Fortnightly marketing emails enjoyed an average open rate of 36% and I also built a loyal and active Facebook community. In March 2016 I was instrumental in the launch of the FundEd programme for school leaders – to inspire, advise, and support them on all aspects of income generation and fundraising – with the popular FundEd Magazine and the www.funded.org.uk website. I sourced a team
of external writers to contribute articles on everything from working with the governing board to creating a big-impact crowdfunding video. My role involved planning print and online content, writing and commissioning features, editing copy for publication, whilst managing workflow between our small part-time team. In autumn 2017 I further expanded my skills base by presenting seminars at school leadership conferences and events.
