As co founder of this visual communication agency in Spain, we produced innovative and high quality digital content for the Architecture and Engineering environments. From concept through production to final delivery, we specialised in innovative solutions to meet our clients needs and demands. I enjoyed this challenging and varied ecosystem where I sharpened my design, production, project management and client facing skills. During this time I have mastered the production pipeline in 3D animation and motion graphics, as well as the art of delivering on our promises and motivating our team to resolve any problems along the way. Our main clients during this time where: Mercedes-Benz AMG, Oracle/BMW USA17, Endesa WindPower, EcoBuild, British Research Establishment, Airbus Military, Comeen.
Working for this world known broadcasting corporation in London, my main duties involved the day to day support of all Apple and Creative Production Technologies. This included the rollout of hardware and software, Adobe Creative Suites, Suitcase Xsevre Networking solutions and post productions facilities. As the main apple consultant for the London offices my job took me from training the support team, maintaining the video editing facilities, implementation of specialist editing suites for Combustion, Avid HD, Motion 2. My responsibilities extended to all the channels which made it very interesting due to the diversity of problems encountered and their urgency. Supporting technical staff in a high pressure environment such as CNN, was contrasted with the more relaxed approach that the printing department for the Cartoon Network required. During my time at Turner I had the great opportunity to work in an excellent environment, with very modern facilities and state of the art technologies as well as working to a demanding professional standard. My work ethic benefited immensely from my time there as did my expertise creative production and development.
Responsible for the upkeep and maintenance of the offices IT systems, communications and data security. Additionally responsible for creating and developing the companies visualisation, communication and marketing assets.
Working in a busy publishing environment in a very exiting office, I was responsible for all aspects of support in a period of great change and growth. This included providing proactive technical support to all creative and admin personnel on both PC and Mac platforms and included responsibility over printing, networking, application and user set-ups, productions support, application support as well as back office and 3rd line. I also assisted in projects to role out InDesign, G5s and Panther, Ghost Server management tools, a new Help Desk system and a G5 Xserve font server. I worked with a very committed team and was able to experience many new aspects of production in the publishing industry.
In this position I worked as a senior consultant with this IT resourcing company servicing the Publicis Group in the UK. 3rd line engineer at both Publicis and Saatchi’s offices leading a project to consolidate the back office and do a hand over to HQ in France. In addition, I worked setting up a number of small sites with all production equipment, servers and infrastructure (N1 Creative, Cubo Productions, Blueprint etc) and worked together with the e-mail division to implement the Blackberry Mobile messaging system, as well as the new Creative Suite Work tracking tools on G5 desktops and Servers. During this time I learned a lot about large agencies and how they work and enjoyed a successful 6 months.
In these months I provided consultancy, analysis and implementation for various startup design and media companies. This work encompassed from advising my clients on the best IT solutions for their businesses to implementing such recommendations. In these short contracts I helped web design agencies, photography studios, graphic design and furniture design start ups. This was a rewarding experience where I managed to ease my self back to a professional environment after taking a sabbatical. I also got back in touch with the latest industry developments and the new technologies important to my work.
In this role I provided technical IT and media support for an experimental TV channel that tested out new technologies and procedures for Sony and Disney’s larger channels. As leader of a small team we accomplished the setup of the IT department from nothing, to it being an integral part of the production and broadcast services of this channel. My main contribution to this company was the upkeep of the corporations high standards of system security and integrity, to ensure that users felt at all times supported within their diverse environments, to raise the productivity of both back and front office systems and to reach a high level of network reliability.
This was initially a 3 month contract where I was to design, plan and implement the Media and IT infrastructure for a new office channel venture that Sony and Disney where launching called Cinenova. (Subscription movie channel for the Netherlands territory) This included: -Planning, purchasing and implementation of design, video and sound infrastructure in new office together with Sony engineers and to Sony’s corporate standards i.e. cabling, servers, PCs, Macs and all communications hardware, all peripherals and set up of all the software, both in London, and Amsterdam. -Migration of all data and media from Disney’s head offices in Hammersmith to the new location in the Pearsons media building in central London, where a multitude of channels such as Discovery are based. -Training of all users in new systems once move was complete and the provision of quick response support during interim period. -Creation of all technical procedures, security, backup, user support, corporate communications, media suits and studios, media library, and establishing and delivering all technology requirements for a modern broadcasting venture. -Documentation of project, liaising between different project sponsors and companies, project development, delivery and handover when project was satisfactorily completed. As a results of the success of these 3 months, I was offered the IT manager’s position permanently which I was happy to accept.
In charge of 3 offices, my responsibilities where the support of 40+ users and the creation of an infrastructure around mayor changes affecting the company. During this time my main contributions where: - Supervising and helping with the inclusion to the corporations WAN of Goldwin Films (G2) with the installation of a T2 line to LA HQ + ISDN links from G2 to MGM and UIP in Hammersmith. All in collaboration with BT and AT&T (USA) + corporate network engineers. - The migration from Windows NT 4.0 to Novell NetWare of G2 films to conform to corporate standards. - The creation of a new domain for G2 and the implementation of a new infrastructure. - The implementation of IT security, backup procedures, disaster recovery - The support of user problems in all offices including the remote support of our contact at Pinewood Studios. Although this was a challenging position working in an exiting environment, I recommended outsourcing support due to the geographical separation of each site and the time difference with IT HQ in LA, which made it unfeasible to have one person liaising and supporting all these offices, my recommendation where duly taken and I parted with this company in good terms.
This was a 8 months contract working for the English and Spanish enterprise helpdesk for Compaq Enterprise solutions. Due to my experience I was transferred to the Media and Design solutions desk which provided me with the chance to increase my knowledge of Compaq servers and acquire experience of the most common problems in large and small design and media organisations with server set-ups, security, reliability, interconnectivity and maintenance. This was accomplished through access to labs to test all of Compaq Enterprise Solutions, working long hours with companies ranging from small design studios to large government owned TV and radio stations to resolve all manner of problems with customers across Europe. These 3 months where very rewarding, increasing my server knowledge ten fold. The time spent in Dublin was a great experience as well.
