Currently I work in Harrods Toy Kingdom. Being proactive, astute, and customer focused is extremely important in my job role. Working in a luxury store and dealing with customers (in person, or through phone calls/personal shoppers) from various wealth backgrounds and nationalities has given me a great understanding of client service, and how to adapt my approach to different clients. I am also Senior Systems trained which means I have some manager functions on the till. I can process refunds, exchanges, open and cash up tills, and put change into the tills. I am a brand ambassador for two brands in my department. This means I have experience in monitoring and boosting sales, and visual merchandising. I have also had experience in working with Toy Kingdom’s Events team, to enhance our shoppers’ time at Harrods and to see how we can boost sales in the department through running events.
Currently, I am also volunteering at Somerset House for the Bjork Digital Exhibition, working closely with the Live Events team. My role includes preparing and setting up the Virtual Reality program and headsets for one of the VR rooms. I welcome guests into the room, introducing them to the installation, and I assist them with putting on the VR headsets. It is also my responsibility to make sure everyone is using the equipment safely, and to respond to any queries or complaints.
I worked as a sales associate for Hornby Railways in Harrods. As a Hornby employee, my primary role was to approach and greet customers, and to help with their needs. Having good knowledge about Hornby (along with the related brands in our concession) was paramount to the job and, in turn, it helps customers make an informed decision about buying products from Hornby, and Harrods as a store. Being approachable and also having the confidence to start a conversation with customers was a skill that I have developed whilst working for Hornby. As a Harrods employee, as well as helping Hornby customers with their needs, I have made a conscientious effort to familiarise myself with products across the shop floor to be a greater help to clients and the toy department.
I worked as a kitchen assistant at Pizza Hut. My main role was to prepare and present food to brand standard, and to customer satisfaction. It was crucial to be able to work as part of a team, but also to be able to use my own initiative when working on my own. I made sure the kitchen space was maintained to the highest standards with regards to cleanliness and maintenance, and ensured that all health and safety regulations were followed. This job has given me experience in opening and closing a kitchen, which has enabled me to fully understand the importance of being able to work effectively on my own, managing my time productively while ensuring that all standards are met.
