About me
Ever since the birth of cinema, film has played an integral role in forming western culture. To me the most influential people of my generation are not politicians, celebrities or world-leading businessmen but filmmakers & media producers. Those who spend their lives obsessing over turning words on the page into a visual work of art, working long hours behind the camera avoiding the spotlight to tell a compelling story. What an honour it would be to take a place among the directorial elite of the industry that I have admired for so long & be able to have my own impact on audiences globally through the stories I tell on screen.
Why should you hire me? Despite the hardship of coming from Devon, a county restricted in its media connections, I am constantly striving to make my dreams come true. From my experiences I believe that with enough passion, determination and creative originality that I can make a name for myself. Like many who share my passion I have been writing and filming my own stories since a young age. I vividly remember being fascinated by movies (Back to the Future in particular) before I understood how they were made, it was only until later my fascination focused on behind the scenes. A turning point for me was at age 8 when I started making short films with my first camera. What started off as a hobby quickly became a creative outlet. A way of expressing my voice before I even knew that I had a voice worth sharing with people. This idea of telling stories about whatever I wanted became addicting.
That passion has only grown with age, along with my creative and technical knowledge which I hope to improve with this next step in education. Attending Exeter College has aided me greatly as I have worked on projects of several different genres, challenging me as a filmmaker and producing some of my best work. For example, in my second year I was tasked to produce a corporate video. I made two, one of which was for the Exeter Phoenix a local music venue and creative hub. The other was for Limina Immersive, a Bristol based Virtual Reality Curation company with whom I had a work experience placement with. This allowed me to travel all over the south west expanding my networking skills and leading to a finished product that I have become very proud of.
