About me
My name is Oskar Nilsson and I am a Writer / Film Director; I love to write and direct films which tell salient stories, not only through character development, but also through striking imagery and the moving picture. I am half Swedish and British, but I was brought up in The Netherlands for the early years of my life; it was there where I really began my filmmaking. I take my inspiration when writing and directing film from Christopher Nolan, Steve McQueen, Jonathan Nolan and David Fincher. Although I have never received official lessons in film or media, I have mostly taught myself the skills which have won me major awards at festivals. I lived and worked in Los Angeles for a few months where I was mentored by an incredibly talented Writer/Director; he was shooting the pilot for his TV show where I acted as his personal assistant as well as many other roles. While I am still working with him and those around him, I have many exciting projects of my own in the pipeline! Recently winning the award for Best Short Film at the BFI Future Film Festival 2018 was a very special moment in my life. Through this I managed to meet some spectacular people who are all eager to see what I create next!
