I'm a hands on individual with an eye to detail and enjoy working within a fun and innovative team, to create the best possible outcome for both the customers and the brand. Digitally driven and strategically minded, I work very well under tight deadlines and fast paced environments. Working with global publications, brands and e-commerce fashion sites (Harpers Bazaar, Style.com, Harvey Nichols, Namshi.com, Selfridges) for both editorial and social media purposes, allowed me to gain a deeper understanding into knowing exactly what the 21st century consumers want in a future proof context.
I founded and run an interactive website based around the boundary less world of fashion. The website is located between Abu Dhabi and Dubai and soon to be London.
Working with the biggest online retailer in the GCC, allowed me to get a new sense of direction within the online fashion industry. Learning about the logistics and operations of the e-commerce platform enabled my journalistic skills to expand and put them to the test on a daily basis. My daily responsibilities ranged from re-writing all of the brand bios, category headers, social media content, planning content calendars for months in advance as well as working closely with the Head of Content and Fashion Editor. As the brand was going through a transition to enter a new, more urban based market, the social media channels that I was fully responsible for was the only form of advertising that, making my role one of the most vital and influential. Within my time I increased social media followers up to 50,000 within 4 months.
My most recent job has been at D Journal Dubai- the 'Dazed and Confused' of the Middle Eastern region. An anti glossy, independently opinionated publication that focuses on everything extraordinary in both the region as well as globally. This has been my best experience so far, in a great working environment, where I had complete creative control and direction for both the online platform as well as the magazine itself. Organising events, photo shoots, interviews and content, I get to oversee the production side as well. My awareness and understanding of different aspects of how a magazine runs heavily increased- learning about the importance of advertisers, uploading specific content continuously, design layouts, as well as the technological aspect of the company.
I was a freelance contributor for a Conde Nast publication based in Dubai. Writing recent news in the fashion world as well as pitching ideas to develop the Middle Eastern fashion and lifestyle scene.
I was a fashion intern for Harpers Bazaar, where my skills of writing, communication, dealing with brands from all over the world had heavily increased. I also learnt the running of a publication as big as Harpers, and dealing with tight deadlines.
As one of my first internships at a publication, this experience gave me an insight into how a global publication runs. Writing specifically for the Shopping and Style section, this allowed me to broaden my journalistic skills as well as communicated with brands, people and companies from different parts of the world. I also learnt the in's and out's of how the magazine structure works from advertisers to design layouts etc.
