My life has been always been very much rooted in the creative world. Studying and working in music has not only provided me with a constant creative platform to explore, but also allowed me to appreciate how the best projects often materialise through careful planning and execution, running in tandem with the creative spark. Working for companies that have always sought to bring something new to the table, whether that be surprise presents in the post created by some of the brightest designers around, to tour managing for Mike Skinner and Tonga, has helped me refine a balance where a mixture of self-belief and self-imposed high standards are a must.
My main tasks are currently to run Mike’s record label, tour manage, look after our recording studio, assistant the management of artists, develop the Tonga club night brand as well as many other day to day activities. Through our distributor Believe Digital I managed all releases, reported sales and distributed royalties alongside many other additional online and offline marketing efforts to promote all records released.
Whilst here I looked after the marketing of creative communities Hackney Downs Studios, Netil House and Old Paradise Yard. I oversaw the entire marketing push of 40 new studios built in Hackney Downs. This included offline promotion such as billboards, as well as online in the form of social, newsletters and listing websites. Whilst working at the company, I have also created and marketed events across all of our event spaces such as Netil360, The Russet, Platform Bar, Netil Market and The Village Green.
I previously worked alongside the MD of the company and facilitated our roster of DJ’s who played all over London every week. We took care of the bookings for Met Bar, Circus, 21 Covent Garden, St Martin’s Lane and Steam & Rye on a weekly basis. During my time with the team, I organised events to support brands at Boxpark, as well as assisting with charity events such as Yard Life festival. The day-to-day running of this business has honed my relationship building expertise from both an internal / agency and external / client perspective, which in turn ensures that both sides walk away satisfied from each booking.
Developed a rich understanding of music technology as well as the wider industry as a whole. Alongside this, I interned at various companies such as VICE in order to progress my creative writing abilities.
