Pedro Portellano (Madrid, 1979) is a curator and cultural manager. He has a degree in Psychology from the Autónoma University of Madrid, an MBA in Arts Management from the Complutense University of Madrid, and an MA in History of Art and Visual Culture from the Reina Sofia National Museum. He has worked during ten years in different art and music institutions like: Matadero Madrid, as director of the Nave de Música; Reina Sofía National Museum, in the Public Programs department; City Council of Madrid, in White Night Madrid, as project manager; and La Fábrica, in the online projects department. Since 2010 he is a regular contributor to El Estado Mental arts and culture magazine, and has participated in the Spanish Art Promotion Program of ARCO fair. In 2011 he received the Inéditos Curatorial Award, and curated the exhibition Después del Silencio in La Casa Encendida of Madrid. Also in 2011 he was part of the team organizing the Red Bull Music Academy Madrid 2011, being one of the music curators of that edition. Between 2011 and 2013 he curated the Espacio acústico concert series of the Reina Sofia Museum, and in 2012 he was appointed as the director of the Red Bull Nave de Música music venue in Madrid, and the director of the Red Bull Studio Madrid until 2014. In 2014 Pedro Portellano began to work as an independent curator, and since then he has been developing the contemporary art platform Future Dealers; curating the exhibition Maneras de Hacer, with pieces of the collection of the CA2M Art Center of Madrid; and curating the installation White Bouncy Castle of William Forsythe in the Palacio Cibeles of Madrid.
