I’m a creative, ambitious events manager and marketer. I think great communication involves having a clear unified vision of what you want to achieve and using it to inspire others to get on board. With over 5 years first hand experience in seeing how clever day to day communication and marketing can deliver great events and help venues and businesses grow to its potential, I intend to use my writing, sales, communication and event organisation skills to make a positive impact in my work and personal relationships.
My position as Events Assistant at Queen's University is a varied role incorporating both core/internal University events and conferences/bookings and events held by external organisations on the university campus. My primary responsibility is booking, coordinating and facilitating events held by external clients on campus. As primary contact, I manage the booking/event from its initial enquiry through to completion. Event management, catering, audio visual requirements, room bookings, insurance liabilities and venue layout are all day to day tasks. Liaising directly with the client, various internal departments and external audio visual/entertainment bookers on a regular basis. I work with a diverse range of clients from the public/private/charity/educational and entertainment sectors across a wide range of venues, from large scaled dinner/conference venues to booking smaller meeting rooms and classrooms. I also coordinate all photography and filming requests on campus. Working with the 6 departmental heads at the University, I coordinate and facilitate filming requests on campus and coordinate with the client and venue/site. In relation to core University events, I coordinate elements of the summer and winter graduation ceremonies and the Meet The Parents event. This includes student and staff training, coordination and management on the day of the event. I manage and coordinate logistics, event catering, artists and event traffic at Northern Ireland's largest cultural arts and music festival, attended by over 80,000 people in one night.
My position as Marketing Officer for N.Irelands largest arts festival was widely varied. On a day to day basis I wrote and managed content on all of the Festival’s social media platforms and website. I helped generate sales through various online and off-line marketing campaigns across Belfast. I worked closely with Festival artists, sponsors and stakeholders. I managed marketing, operational staff and interns. I also co-ordinated various operational elements of events including catering, travel and artist logistics. Other responsibilities included: • Creating advertising content and copy for offline and online campaigns for various media groups. • Live online social media interaction/communication for over 50 events and managing onsite. • Co-manage a marketing budget. • Writing evaluation reports for stakeholders and sponsors.
As Assistant Events Officer I worked on two major Council events. Comber Food Festival and Remembrance Sunday Anniversary. I was first point of contact for catering, entertainment and health and safety regulations for both events. Working alongside the Council’s Event Director, I was responsible for planning and delivering events attended by over 3,000 people. This included working closely with local community representatives, government officials and external arts organisations. Other responsibilities included: • Promoter, press and artist contact • Data entry, diary record keeping, financial reporting. • Analysing procurement for record keeping and evaluation. • Collate, record and monitor Press clippings for PR evaluation.
I managed and organised private hire and events held by external organisations within the theatre. I managed the theatre diary, events programme, room hire (6 spaces), catering and technical set-up for all events. Other responsibilities included: • Promoter, press and artist liaison. • Data entry and record keeping. • Writing financial reports for Chief Operations Officer and Finance Department. • Increasing theatre revenue through business development meetings and conferences.
