About me
Currently helping new and established brands to sell online: - By helping them get set-up on Shopify or WordPress. - By designing and/or implementing a new design for their existing online store. - By assembling and leading a team of developers to build their new online store’s front-end Phil has built Shopify stores for &Daughter, Little Hotdog Watson, The Barnes Foundation, and we’ve built WordPress-powered fashion blogs for Topshop too. Over a decade working freelance for digital agencies all across the UK and some of London's top brands directly. Through agencies like Tribal Worldwide, Friday, Code Computerlove, CX Partners, and 383 Phil has worked for brands like HSBC, Playstation, EA Games, Diageo, The Rolling Stones, The BBC, and Volkswagen.
Projects
  • Isle of MTV
Isle of MTVMTV asked me to update the look and feel of their Isle of MTV site and add some new functionality. The site uses the WPML plugin to translate itself into multiple languages. Design was created in-house/by a third party designer.
  • &DAUGHTER Shopify website
&DAUGHTER Shopify websiteThis rebuild of the and-daughter.com website lead to a 165% increase in sales from the previous year. Designed by OCO Design
  • Top Pitch
Top PitchAn interactive+responsive WordPress build for Topshop and L Marks. Designed by Daniel Neale and overseen by Siew WIlliams.
  • micro:bit
micro:bitTangent Design in Manchester asked me to build the templates for a CMS based site for the BBC's new micro_bit project. I created style guides for all the elements and turned the project around in 3 weeks.
  • Economist Films
Economist FilmsCreating a microsite for The Economist's new side project: Economist FIlms. THe project involved creating a very loose modular structure/style guide so that the site would fit the content (which changed every fortnight - one week it would be 5 videos in one area of the site, the next update would show 4, the next would show 3 and so on).
  • Topshop Blog
Topshop BlogWith London Fashion Week looming, Topshop wanted to update their WordPress blog for a cleaner, quicker and more on-trend design. Working with in-house designers Phil created a theme from scratch that used less plug-ins and therefore made less requests. Topshop originally requested to use a generic theme that would be tweaked to their needs but it quickly became apparent, as with most themes, that the them they chose was woeful for performance and usability and the design changes they’d requested – although seeming simple on the surface were enough to create the same workload as creating a theme from scratch. So Phil created a bespoke theme instead and made sure performance was at the forefront.
