About me
Belgian photographer Quentin De Wispelaere uses the camera as a transcendental way of exploring the boundaries between representation and hallucination.
After graduating from an airline pilot academy, De Wispelaere pursued his formal studies in fine art photography at La Cambre School of Visual Arts in Brussels.
De Wispelaere's photographs have been featured in leading publications such as Another magazine, A Magazine curated by, Dazed, W, Metal Magazine, as well as in online editions of Italian Vogue, British Vogue, Japanese Vogue, Brazilian Vogue, Dutch Vogue and German Vogue.
His commercial clients include Maison Margiela, Hussein Chalayan, Zara, as well as several artists and art foundations. His work gained recent recognition in the Middle East where he was assigned to photograph former Emir of Qatar Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, among others, for the Qatari branch of renowned Agence Publics.
From 2011 to 2014, he shot “Raw Coverage”, a series of highly personal photographs documenting top runway shows such as Louis Vuitton, Dior, Alexander McQueen, Chanel, Burberry and many more exclusively for Another and Dazed.
De Wispelaere's collaboration with Hussein Chalayan was exhibited in 2012 at Somerset House during London Fashion Week.
In 2014, he was nominated by the Lucie Foundation for the 12th annual Lucie Photography Awards in New York.
De Wispelaere's work showcases his instinctual ability to transform the subject of his photographs into what he likes to call “photographic hallucinations”.
