About me
A creative designer and art director with experience in a wealth of fields from FMCG to healthcare, advertising to experiential marketing. Having worked on a variety of mediums including film, print, digital and experiential/events I have recently been pursuing a personal project, writing and illustrating a children's book about dealing with sad feelings including depression. This has spun off into creating a range of other products to promote kindness and compassion, something I feel this world needs more of right now.
Projects
  • Harriet and the Blue Monkey
Harriet and the Blue MonkeyAfter dealing with depression for years I wanted to create something that made it easier for children to recognise, understand and deal with sad feelings before they become too much to handle. I wrote and illustrated Harriet and the Blue Monkey over the course of about 8 months and am now working on raising the money to self publish an initial print run.
  • Caring cards for tough times
Caring cards for tough timesA recent product I developed to try and help encourage kindness and compassion. I drew from my own experiences with depression and wrote a series of rhyming greetings cards which aim to help you find the words to be there for a loved one who is going through a rough patch even when you're not quite sure of what to say. The cards will be up for sale via my website shop very soon!

After leaving Maverick to pursue freelance opportunities I realised I had a project burning a hole in my brain. I wanted to write and illustrate a children's book. I started writing Harriet and the Blue Monkey in Sept 2019 and the story is about a little girl struggling to deal with sad feelings. Written from my own experiences of dealing with depression I wanted to create something that would help children better understand these kinds of emotions when either they or someone they know experiences them and to know what to do about them. That has since spiralled into making a range of other products which are all to do with promoting kindness and compassion in our society. I am currently setting that up as a shop online and hoping to run the business alongside whatever I might take on next in terms of freelance or full time roles.

Maverick gave me an opportunity to progress and move into a more senior position. Working with a large global brand and senior clients directly was an amazing opportunity and a real chance to step up and show what I could do creatively. Working at Maverick gave me a chance to work on multiple shoots in different countries on different subject matter and learn how to work with different departments from strategy to film to digital design and copywriting to pull together complex projects. I learnt a lot about management and went through a period of personal and professional growth both during my time at Maverick and after that.

I received a 1st class BA hons degree in graphic communication from Cardiff. I absolutely loved my time in Cardiff as the course taught us to focus on our creative ideas as much as the execution. This is where I discovered my love of creative conceptual work and the necessity of great communication being paired with beautiful design.

We won the inaugural Pip award for creatives in healthcare advertising under the age of 30. Our Ciao! campaign created a 'trojan high' where we mass produced and marketed a fake legal high which instead delivered messages of warning to youngsters about the dangers of taking 'legal' drugs. The campaign was picked up in the Sun and the Metro as a real legal high which inflated our order 300% and was finally revealed through the release of the legal high packets, our social media channel and in an expose done by Vice on the campaign.
