• Attend appointments with suppliers, fabric fairs and visit mills and manufacturers for research and sourcing for all raw materials – fabric, leather, metal and soft trims.
• Manage all phases of fabric and raw materials development across all seasons, recognise key trends and present new concepts. Present relevant information – price, moq and lead times and clarify any development questions raised. Create and manage raw materials board, keeping details updated.
• Build and maintain a close working relationship with the design team to develop a collection from the initial concept through sales distribution, understand the designer’s creative aesthetic design vision, and translate it to internal teams and external stakeholders.
• Perform as the technical partner for the design team, attend fittings and provide feedback on technical feasibility, brainstorming ideas and solutions to ensure the collection design vision.
• Communicate and act as a problem solver when issues arise, act timely and efficiently to find solutions, and fulfil last-minute requests.
• Manage fabric development throughout the season, approve lab dips, trials, artworks, and strike offs.
• Create and manage critical path for all raw materials in each collection - from sampling to production, ensuring deadlines and budgets are met and communicating any disruptions to production and merchandising teams.
• Responsible for keeping PML system up to date with relevant information. Manage raw material archives and maintain files and samples organised.
• Manage sampling and production raw materials buying process and stock levels, creating Po’s and confirming OC’s. Advise on reorders requests throughout the collection and communicate sales strategies accordingly.
• Ensure all materials of sampling and production are delivered on time and meet quality standards. Responsible for managing and solving any quality/ time issues related to raw materials at all stages.
• Offer commercial awareness based on the latest trends and innovations.
• Work closely with the finance team to communicate payments and invoices, helping to plan cash flow and report budgets accordingly. Negotiate price and payment terms with vendors and suppliers.
