Designer and producer of a collaborative political production that focussed on acts of racial micro aggression and the pernicious effects of everyday racism. The project was focused on the collaboration between new designers and new directors. Initially a university project and was the sole candidate chosen out of all university year to transfer the production to the Lyric Hammersmith, as part of the ‘Evolution Festival’, a festival celebrating new and upcoming theatre makers. Collaborated on Research and Development of the show with Director. Designed and made all costume and set.
Designer for Frisky’s new writing show ‘Girl World’, a show that discusses the struggles of young girlhood and discovering the female body. 3 day site specific take over of Southwark Platform as a part of a 10 day residency from Brainchild Festival. Designed and made the entire set and costume. Girl World was shortlisted for Charlie Hartill Pleasance award. Was also at Edinburgh Fringe 2018 as well as immersive take over of Off the Cuff Herne Hill.
Intern for Mo4 Network, a social media agency specialising in content creation, producing a variety of media for local and international brands. It is also the mother company of five online magazines: CairoScene, CairoZoom, SceneNoise, SceneArabia and Al Fasla. I assisted the fashion department, working on a variety of shoots and video production including a shoot for ‘Timberland’. By the end of the summer I was given the responsibility to do the production design for a Lebanese restaurant advertisement.
The Theatre Design course gave me key skills in developing design ideas from start to finish. I learnt to work through my concepts with mood boards, sketches, presentations, technical drawings and model boxes. By the end of the three years, I became proficient in taking an initial idea and developing it until its complete realisation.
