I was selected to join the client facing team to assist the Sales department in increasing their retention rates. I’m responsible for outgoing client engagement but also look after our Livechat service, host product demonstrations, and complete data requests via the Preqin database. My KPI’s include the number of meaningful outgoing calls, positive client feedback and the overall maintenance of Preqin’s market leading reputation.
In this junior Sales role, I was tasked with encouraging institutional investors to join Preqin’s Investor Network by converting cold leads into warm leads for the Sales team. I exceeded my target by 15% and successfully introduced over 100 investors to the database, with 40% choosing to subscribe to paid-for services shortly afterwards.
I have completed the media analysis of brands that include Arla (the manufacturer of Cravendale milk) Arcadia (Topshop, Dorothy Perkins, Miss Selfridge) the Food Standards Agency and the Institute of Occupational Health. I analyze the perception of the brand and write up reports on the effectiveness of their latest marketing campaigns. Blogs, tweets and Facebook mentions are all collated into the client feedback to summarize the overall marketing success of particular campaigns.
I personally managed the diary of Dermot Corrigan, Gorkana’s Chief Commercial officer. Duties included booking flights, making restaurant reservations and organizing a weekly company wide ‘lunch and learn’ program with guest speakers such as Clarence Mitchell, the spokesman for Kate and Gerry McCann. I would also help assist the planning of Gorkana’s breakfast briefings with UK publications such as Red, Stylist magazine and Women’s Health.
My responsibilities included assisting the Sales teams in generating new business through meticulous administrative support. This included drafting bespoke proposals for clients, creating company presentations and processing order forms for the client service executives. I would often assist the search team in setting up the Gorkana social media analyst tool, attributing positive, negative and neutral coverage and measuring the reach of particular campaigns. I would also assign leads to sales teams.
I attended insightful one to ones with the Managing Editor before joining editorial meetings, wardrobe consultations and quarterly planning discussions. I also assisted with archiving in the infamous Vogue House library. The week was split between GQ magazine and then Easy Living magazine. I also spent a day conducting research with Conde Nast Traveller.
I wrote daily press releases for the official university website and helped promote events to students and alumni online. I reported directly to the Head of Communications to create engaging, topical content in the house style of the university.
I was selected to intern with the research team of BBC’s Watchdog. I was lucky enough to work on a particular segment through from initial research to filming and production. I read letters of complaint sent into the office and selected trending issues. I transcribed the footage of secret filming and designed a set for an expose on some of Argos’ marketing techniques. I appeared in a segment with Chris Hollins and assisted a day shoot with presenter Matt Allwright.
I utilized my existing Search Engine Optimization experience to increase sales of fancy dress costumes for a consumer website. I adhered to a strict deadline of three 700-word product descriptions a day for a three week period, relating costumes to topical events to capitalize on media trends. The site’s traffic increased by 30% on the days in which my articles were posted, thus encouraging increased sales.
