About me
My name is becky buckman and i am a multidisciplinary artist and designer. I change my hair as often as I change my medium, working across animation, film, photography, interactive design and physical computing, although I have developed a particular interest in animations & film production.
Projects
  • Anti- Affordance
Anti- AffordanceAffordance is the name for the process which allows and enhances interaction. anti-affordance is the opposite, and removes or makes interaction extremely difficult. for this project, i designed a set of knives designed with anti-affordance in mind, each relative to pre-existing names for knives.
  • Destroy
DestroyThis project initially began with the brief to 'document the process of destruction'. Research eventually led me to look at vandalism of statues, and with the recent protests against the Cecil Rhodes statue in South African and Oxford, this project addresses colonial presence in London monuments in a subtler way. • Blood Brothers
Blood BrothersA candid mockumentary examining menstruation. How can we tackle the stigma of menstruation? Those outside to an experience will often find it difficult to relate to it, so working from this idea, I asked the largest group of outsiders to periods (cis males) to speak about periods as if they have them.
  • Geofossils
GeofossilsA series of logo and graphic designs for metaphysical supply store GeoFossils.
  • E-Cult
    E-Cult9 second e-sting entered for E4 competition.
  • Sunday Dinner
Sunday DinnerA short film I directed, produced and acted in as part of my degree. A short film looking at growing up mixed race. A conversation around the dinner table takes place between myself and both sides of my West African and white British family. Assistant Producer/DOP: Andre Meehan

  • Women: The Sacrifice of Cultural Identity
Women: The Sacrifice of Cultural IdentityPersonal project of work sold, portraying women as the key figures when it comes to a community establishing an identity. The pieces below comment on the clash of ideals of presenting female beauty between the east and the west, and how both are derived from the male gaze.
