Running the concessions sales mat at John Lewis on Oxford Street. Making Store managers decisions throughout the smaller concession and working closely with the Area Manager to drive sales within the business. I also have strong Visual Merchandising skills which I also hope to portray throughout the working day and to Whistles Visual Merchandising Team.
Being a Team Leader Trainee, my role was to act as a Team Leader, by leading the team, supporting and motivating staff to drive sales throughout the working day and always planning for the future, and to be their inspiration for that. I was also to run and manage the morning deliveries where I was actually part of the delivery team, in this situation its easy to find yourself having to make logical and methodical decisions whilst the store is actually not ready to trade yet. Throughout the day I would manage the sales floor and made sure everything ran smoothly with the support of other team leaders and management. I ran our customer service feedback system and was to feedback customers comments to improve our system and motivate staff. Then through closing the store at the end of the day, making sure the team was on track to leave the store ready for the next trading day and to also cash up and close the store electronically. I was also The Home Specialist for my store which meant anything to do with the department and its future was in my hands whilst running things through with my manager. Here I gained almost all of my Visual Merchandising skills, and as a very creative person, this is one of my favourite areas.
