Manager of bars, including VIP, corporate and champagne bars, at festivals and events across the UK. I deal with stock, back-of-house logistics and legal admin, and up to 70 staff by myself, working collaboratively within a large team of managers and directors to combat the difficult challenges that we are faced with when with running a festival or event. I am a Personal License holder as part of this.
Senior stage manager and artist liaison for Evolution Emerging festival. Oversaw a team of volunteers and coordinated the logistics of running several venues for the festival.
Selected to organise the NTLT Star Awards ceremony. Placement duties included developing and distributing a launch pack for schools including a promotional video, researching event sponsors, supporting the core team with relevant administration duties, liaising with the venue, creative input into the planning of the event, and coordinating duties on the night.
Head of artist liaison for a large venue in Newcastle upon Tyne, The Cluny, for the BBC 6 Music Festival this year. Worked alongside the stage manager and coordinated a team of runners to oversee the back-of-house operations within the venue. As the event was live on radio, keeping to the schedule and making sure all artists and crew were in the correct places for the recording and liaising with the tour managers and press was an essential part of this role.
Main responsibility of running the internal and external bars, however also assisted as artist liaison and general event assistant at the well established House and Techno event, Shindig (http://www.shindiguk.com/).
Worked in editorial for the magazine and website, specifically writing album, gig and artist reviews. Proof-read other writers’ reports and reviews prior to publishing (paying close attention to TheBRAG’s stylistic guide), compiled the gig list for Sydney each week and selected promotional photographs for bands and events to be published. Ran errands between TheBRAG and other magazines and companies, developing a good rapport and working relationship with other people in the music business and establishing strong networking skills.
Worked as a photographer’s assistant on location shoots. Organised and dressed models, ran errands between photographers, planned crew meals and took care of advance planning for the shoots. Worked one-on-one with the Creative Director and the Photographers to plan each day in detail, and had sole responsibility for executing these plans.
