About me

I am a non-figurative artist & create large paintings with presence. I am based in a light-filled studio in Sussex in England, an acorn’s throw from the Ashdown Forest. I paint using print-making tools, brushes and bespoke squeegees and I work to remould inner spaces, to invite attention to and engagement with surface and depth, outer picture and inner soul-space. I aim to create "the painting as a doorway". I am represented by Clifton Fine Art in Bristol and my work is in private collections in the UK, Australia, Belgium, Canada, China, Italy, Germany, Switzerland and the USA. Solo shows of my paintings have been held in the UK, Germany and Switzerland. In 2017 my work was chosen for the Creekside Open & the National Open Art Exhibition (both in London) and a number of my paintings were selected for the ING Discerning Eye competition in 2015, 2016 & 2021. I am an active member of FPS (Free Painters and Sculptors artist group) and the Sevenoaks Visual Arts Forum.

Stolen Time at the Kaleidoscope Gallery in SevenoaksFrom 16 - 26 March I'll be showing a selection of paintings from my Stolen Time series at the Kaleidoscope Gallery in Sevenoaks. Open StudioI'll be opening my studio in Forest Row, Sussex during the first 3 weekends in June 2021, as part of South East Open Studios. You are very welcome to visit! Stolen Time series of paintingsI was lucky enough to be able to access my studio during lockdown. All my other work was cancelled & I was gifted this quiet time to paint day after day. It was an intense period, and let to a large series of work, from small to very large pieces.
Tapetum Lucidum Series of paintingsI am currently immersed in producing a series of paintings called Tapetum Lucidum (Light Carpet). It is a series of abstract paintings which I've been working on for a couple of years. The image is of Tapetum Lucidum II. The first painting in the series was recently bought by a collector in New York.
Folded Light, a solo show of abstract paintingsI will be showing my new Folded Light series of paintings at the Kaleidoscope Gallery in Sevenoaks, Kent from 5 December 2019 - 4th January 2020. The private view is on Thursday 12th December from 6 - 8 pm. All welcome!
