About me
I help brands communicate better. I can build a brand from the ground up or refresh it to provide new positioning. I make things on-brand and fix what’s wrong. I can deliver at every stage from concept and strategy through to guardianship and approvals. My specialism is building and overseeing design systems and brand guidelines. Guidelines I codify, create and write are simple to use and get work created efficiently. This can include global approvals and finding territory appropriate solutions. I’ve worked on projects that are variously corporate, independent, global and local. I’ve taught and mentored junior designers. I’m excellent with Adobe CS, especially Illustrator and InDesign, and pretty good with Sketch. I’m also a confident and articulate presenter. P.S.   • Keep Prisons Single Sex
    Keep Prisons Single SexNew branding for the prisoners’ advocacy group. It is designed to be bold and plain speaking. The colour bars connote CCTV surveillance and prison gates. It intentionally blocky, without images and designed to work as an easily editable modular system. Impact is the aim.

    Brand GuidelinesMy specialism is brand guidelines. As well as codifying, writing and producing these these I’ve worked on all of the design for these projects. This is not a complete list. I produce a lot of them.
  • La Trobe University / Brand Project Design Manager
    La Trobe University / Brand Project Design ManagerI was brought in to help steer the design, and to develop brand elements for La Trobe’s rebrand project. I worked on all aspects - visual, content and messaging - including logo usage, choosing colours and fonts, and developing flexible layouts. One task was developing best practice guidelines with the team. These are being codified into the new brand guidelines which I am writing and producing.
  • Royal George Hotel rebrand
    Royal George Hotel rebrand“This place is as big as a ship”. The result of this is the vaguely nautical rebrand for a hugely popular country pub. The logotype is custom and influenced by lettering on the stern of tankers. There’s also references to cargo stencilling, waves, flags and plimsoll lines.
  • Gucci Chime For Change / Design & Guidelines
    Gucci Chime For Change / Design & GuidelinesI worked on the design and development of this global awareness and action campaign for Gucci. I wrote the brand and build guides for every part of the campaign and was responsible for approvals of all worldwide collateral.
  • Britain Is GREAT / Global Guidelines
    Britain Is GREAT / Global GuidelinesThe brand guidelines for this campaign needed to go worldwide. I devised a simple, bulletproof, step?by?step method for creating on-brand ads for all sizes. I was also in charge of approving or finding design solutions for all print ads, out-of-house posters and merchandise worldwide.
