About me
Brazilian playwright, screenwriter and lyricist living in New York since 2017. In the last couple of years, I worked for Disney/Blue Sky Studios as a screenwriter developing an animated musical directed by Academy Award nominee director Carlos Saldanha and produced by Academy Award nominee Marc Platt. Then COVID happened and the studio was shut down 🤷‍♂️ Currently, I’m the head-writer of the live-action comedy series “How to be a Carioca,” an anthology that narrates the adventures of 8 foreigners in Rio de Janeiro and will stream on Hulu in 2022. This is the rest of my copy-pasted bio ;)👇🏽 In theatre, Rodrigo has had three of his plays produced in New York: "The Ideal Obituary" (The Tank, 2018) described by Broadway World as "a masterfully disturbing unique theatrical experience." "Real" (The Tank, 2019) featured in the American Theatre Magazine as one of the must-sees off-off-Broadway shows of the winter season. He also wrote and directed "The Gershwins' Real Magic," a musical for young audiences. Rodrigo created the opening act for the “Rock in Rio” festival in Lisbon. This musical was performed daily for a crowd of 50,000 viewers, opening the main stage for artists such as Bruce Springsteen, Queen + Adam Lambert, and Maroon 5. Before moving to New York, Rodrigo was on the writing team of the Brazilian version of “Ugly Betty.” He also wrote the screenplay for feature films distributed by Disney, Universal, and Sony Pictures.
