My background is in Psychology and i'm looking for a role that will allow me to utilise the skills i've acquired in behavioural understanding - be it directly through work content or on an interpersonal level. During my degree my intrigue was focused on understanding people - what shapes our decisions, opinions and problems? I particularly enjoyed looking at human behaviour from social, clinical, developmental and biological perspectives. My studies have allowed me to gain broad insight into how people behave, and this has supported my continuing fascination with the story of an individual.
I tutor an 18 year old girl who requires extra tuition in the context of ADHD and Dyslexia.
I support my employer in the smooth running of the practice, managing patient invoicing and accounts and liaising between patients and therapists to co-ordinate appointments. I have also had the opportunity to help organize a focus group regarding future practice specialization, involving preparatory research, surrounding the topic of ‘Failure to Launch Syndrome’. My employer has made the special effort to meet with me 2 – 3 times a week to discuss her therapeutic approaches to her patients and to include me in therapist supervisions in order to provide insight into the confidential dynamics of the practice.
I have compiled a computerized database of Dr. Arkell’s patient’s psychiatric history and am now running data analysis to help understand patient demographics. This role is independently led and requires for me to adhere to stringent confidentiality regulations.
