I am a printed textiles graduate with a love for screen printing and making accessories. I find joy in the discovery of crazy colour combinations that inexplicably work and can become inspired from everything, whether that's a song by Patti Smith, a photo of an abandoned whiskey distillery or a twisted Japanese manga comic. Making jewellery alongside my discovery of laser cutting became a great way to turn my illustrative drawings into products that people love to wear and I'm excited to take my accessories even further.
Exploring imaginary worlds that blend fantasy and reality has been the focus of my final university project titled 'The Losers' Salon'. In this project the combining of childhood stories of my Grannie's witch-like tendencies and my own photos from a recent trip to New Zealand with medieval drawings of demons and monsters is a typical example of how I blend my own personal experience with a wider pool of research.
Projects
- 3D Printed CoverMy boyfriend decided to remove the faulty arm rest from his car as it no longer clipped closed. In it's space was an unattractive gap so, working with him and deciding what he wanted, we 3D printed a neat cover to match his car. It wasn't super advanced but it's the first time I've used my printer for more of a practical function and it was a great challenge!
- Demons, Witches and Creatures Life DrawingAs part of my Final Major Project, 'The Losers' Salon', I decided to run my own life drawing session, making all of the props and backdrops myself. I have always loved dressing up and this was a really fun way to bring that passion into my final university project.
