A LITTLE ABOUT ME... I am a passionate designer always looking for a better solution for design problems. My experiences have equipped me with software skills such as Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, and other applications in the Adobe Suite. Apart from software skills I am also equipped with networking and communication skills with different types of people. Photography is another one of my hobbies that comes into my work. I have done a lot of editorial and branding work as well as typography. I am currently working as a freelance designer for Crowdsurf. They are a start up company who are getting an app out that promotes events. I have been making Facebook event banners, Instagram images, and other various marketing materials.
While on the communication placement I was working alongside the Workplace Coordinator to help improve community communications. My main task was to develop the Ilford Yard Projects's Community Investment magazine's visual identity. During my time I went to local events hosted by the company to take photographs and later on write about the event for a community magazine which I was creating. I had also been tasked with other various jobs such as designing a flyer for a future event, taking photographs, researching local companies for fundraising opportunities for the local Salvation Army, and other communication and admin work.
During my two weeks at this company I went to numerous networking events, as well as a client and partner meeting. I created a presentation for one of their clients who came to create their own brand. In the presentation I added different brands and styles including patterns, typography, and layouts. I also did social media by tweeting for one of their clients, Metropolitan Safe. There was a variety of tasks that I did including admin work, design work, and personal relations.
I worked under their graphic designer during my two weeks. Throughout the work experience I created infographics according to their brand as well as background slide designs for their video. I learned about branding, typography, time management, and increased my concept design skills.
I am currently studying my BA in Graphic Design here. We have done various projects to help increase our skills. My focus is in social design and how it can help it's end users while challenging the norm.
During the workshops we did with Design Council I learned how to question the brief and make sure I get the most out of my research insights, We also developed our research skills. At the end all the teams gave a presentation on how we could help with the ageing process. My team looked into how we could keep people active as they age. At the end of the it my team was presented with a highly commended award.
I did a Foundation diploma in Art and Design (Design and Media) and am specialising in Graphic Design.
