About me

Rute Eliana Santos is a multidisciplinary artist, born on March 26, 1994 in Leiria, Portugal. Rute works across the performing arts disciplines as: actor, dancer, singer, director, visual artist and costume designer. Being a freelance artist since 2012, she has created work to be performed live, on narrative film and in music videos. She has collaborated as a model, stylist, costume designer and producer. In 2016 Rute joined the ‘surf-rock’ band ‘Cows Caos’ as frontwoman. The band are based in Lisbon. She vocally weaves her stories with the ‘psychedelic-tropical-surf-rock’ music whilst dancing her hypnotic choreographies in elaborate costumes of her own design. Rute also creates the visual artwork with the band. Her vision and genuine curiosity to search for different kinds of art and styles of dance brought her to London in 2018 to study the Performing Arts BA (Hons) course at the University of East London. Continuing her research into movement and learning ‘meta disciplinary performance’. Rute is currently exploring how her work ties in to Drama Therapy, Ecopsychology and Dance for Film or Screendance and this is currently the focus of much of her new work.
