Since I can remember, I have enjoyed engaging with others, asking them for their perspective and continually growing from what I’d learned. In college, I chose to make my area of focus journalism, with an emphasis on broadcasting, thinking this would be the right path for my skills. I later worked with several news stations in New Mexico however, in order to broaden my skill-set, I decided to further my education in China.
In Beijing, I stumbled upon my love for radio after completing my MA in International Journalism and starting work at China Radio International (CRI). After briefly working their sports beat, I was moved to the position of cohost for CRI’s flagship show, Round Table. The show discussed mainly domestic current events affecting the Chinese people, but also international topics. I researched content and made it relevant, as well as accessible to a wide audience. To continue developing rapport with my audience I maintained a strong social media presence, tailoring my communication to build and strengthen relations with my listeners and also with our sponsors. This further benefited CRI by developing an online presence and enabling me to understand the dynamic needs of my business. This experience has given me the ability to understand social media platforms and how they can be used effectively in the growth of communications and business.
At CRI our team won awards, led on Apple Podcast for China and I was blessed with many opportunities, including working for the Beijing Grammy Festival and having one of my shows, Special English, broadcast on all Air China flights. As this shows, I have fantastic communication and writing skills, which helped me broadcast to an international audience and I will bring these skills to your organization. Much of what I accomplished at CRI was from hard work and a persistent ambition to grow, as well as how I communicated to my audience and coworkers. Communication is key in all facets of business, broadcasting and any professional initiative. Through broadcasting to foreign audiences all over the world and being accustomed to different cultures, I can greatly contribute to your company’s business and communication needs.
