About me
Saeideh Yazea,   1984  Live and works in London, UK.  MA Fine art, from, Chelsea College of        Arts. (University of the arts, London).   I document my immediate environment  as a  form of contemporary  anthropology.  AS, an, migrant, I  observe and collect  from a wide    range of sources, people,  places  and situations,    partly to fulfil  my  desire to  root myself in the new  society  of, London.  I began my artistic  career through an  act of political exile.   I work with, installation, performance,   photography, video and painting  to  investigate systems of knowledge,  power and  culture.

Window Project commissioned by Gazelli Art House LondonPure Movement 3, environment 2 An installation of real time algorithmic movement derived from an investigation of my visual perception - part of the 'Pure Movement Series' I am fascinated by the varied yet balanced movement of swarms of insects. I perceive beauty in the movement itself, separate from the animals which produce it. To represent my perception I formalise the behavioural rules of the movement and translate them into computational instructions. 'Pure Movement 3’ is based on Craig W. Reynolds' paper 'Steering Behaviors For Autonomous Characters' 1987. I visualise the abstract algorithm using the aesthetic language I developed in my photographic work where I explore marginal scenes in my everyday surroundings. I represent variations of the algorithm in different environments. In 'Environment 2’ I projected the movement on the semi-obscured window of a gallery. From the street only the projection was visible, once the viewer entered the gallery the RPi computer was revealed as the source of the movement. The movement was continuously generated in real time. I created the work as a site specific installation for Gazelli Art House London after receiving the Window Project Award. Pure Movement 2, environment 2 Algorithmic animation derived from an investigation of my visual perception - part of the 'Pure Movement Series' I am fascinated by the subtle and fleeting movement of shapes made by rays of sunshine coming through windows. I perceive beauty in the movement itself, separate from the origins of this phenomenon. To represent my perception I formalise the behavioural rules of the movement and translate them into computational instructions. I visualise the abstract algorithm using the aesthetic language I developed in my photographic work where I explore marginal scenes in my everyday surroundings. I represent variations of the algorithm in different environments. In 'Environment 2’ I projected the movement on the semi-obscured windows of a gallery. The shifting shape of light materialised between inside and outside of the building. I created the work as a site specific installation for Gazelli Art House London after receiving the Window Project Award.
