Staff Writer/Editorial assistantKennedy's Publications
- Kings Hill, UKInternship
- I have assisted in writing articles, researching and retrieving press releases on new products. Throughout my experience, I have written news articles for the online magazine and contributed to the print magazine.
- I did an interview with a well-known British sweet brand called ‘Golden Casket’. I came up with and wrote the questions working with my correspondent to create a double page spread.
- I have worked on social media, updating the magazines twitter account and contributing to the Instagram account.
- Throughout my time in this position, I have used Excel spreadsheets, email – with which I have learnt how to write a good formal email – wordpress, photoshop, apple software and shared folders.
- I was fortunate enough to have the opportunity to go with work to Cologne for a four-day confectionery show event called ProSweets/ISM. It is one of the biggest trade shows for the confectionery industry with thousands of sweet and snack companies exhibiting along with over 300 manufacturing companies for the confectionery industry.
- Over the four days, I worked alongside my colleagues, networking with advertisers and learning about their products, interviewing companies and writing editorial for our March issue where I helped complete a Prosweets and ISM review.
- Throughout this experience, I learnt so much and grew considerably more in my confidence. The experience of researching a company and their product, then coming up with questions and interviewing these companies was a nerve-wracking, tough yet exhilarating process.
- My boss Angus Kennedy did a number of video interviews which I assisted with taking notes, helping the camera man and taking behind the scene images to post onto our social media channels. Through shadowing him on these interviews, I learnt and picked up good interviewing techniques.
- I also helped with the distribution of magazines around the venue the day before the show, along with building press stands and introducing myself to Industry colleagues and friends.

• Peartree Photo was looking for some help with their e-commerce site during the summer holidays; my dad very kindly gave me the opportunity to work with them during August 2018.
• They showed me how to photograph products and make them ready for the web. I was tasked with uploading images for new products, finding details & technical information to add to each item, set prices and stock location.
• When orders were received, I had to process the order, pick the stock, pack and raise the paperwork. I then had to create/book a courier or create a postage label.
• Using Excel, I produced reports from the e-commerce sites for the manager; I also used Excel to import product data,
• As a small company, I was also expected to answer the phones and take messages. Using Microsoft Outlook, I would field incoming customer emails, ensuring inquiries were dealt with in a timely manner.
• As I love social media, I was given the opportunity to write and publish their Twitter and Facebook posts.
• I made guests welcome, making plenty of tea and coffee for everybody.
