I am a jewellery designer-maker with a passion for nature and handmade craft. A lifelong lover of the arts, I came to jewellery-making after working in television production for Buena Vista and Disney and more than a decade spent as a sub-editor at The Sunday Times. I currently use my sub-editing and communication skills in the running of my own thriving business and collaborating with fellow artists to produce exhibitions and pop-up shops.Locked Pro Plan feature
I run a jewellery business from my London studio, designing, making and selling jewellery. I have organised a number of successful pop-up shops involving more than 30 artists and organised networking evenings for freelancers under the name of Wonderland Pop-Up Events. I maintain my own website, mailing list and social media profiles and regularly exhibit at events such as Made London.
Commissioning and editing copy for a magazine catering for a diverse international audience on the theme of the Japanese healing practice of Reiki. I liaised closely with the editor and designer to create lively and informative articles. I was also responsible for subediting and proofreading and created and maintained a house style guide.
Subbing accurately under pressure of deadlines across various sections of the paper, including news, property, features and The Rich List. Checking facts and spellings; liaising with writers; writing headlines, sub headings and captions.
Business and corporate news reporter for the Swedish bank SEB. Researching, writing and sourcing pictures for the bank's staff website and writing copy for the internal magazine. Interviewing economists, bankers and politicians and covering events. Used CMS. Learnt basic Swedish.
Subeditor, predominately in the "regional" office, subbing and adapting copy and layouts to suit the Irish, Northern Irish and Scottish editions. Also subeditor on the property and business sections.
Freelance TV researcher and production assistant at Buena Vista Productions, working on programmes including Draw Your Own Toons and producing five-minute items for Disney: Disnews.
I organised and distributed the flat-plans and page proofs as well as assisting with the general running of the "regional" office. An English graduate with a keen eye, I was keen to progress to subbing and was trained and mentored by senior subs.
I learnt a range of jewellery design and making skills, from cutting and filing metal and wax-carving to stone setting. I focused on casting silver into ice and other materials to create exciting organic shapes. As a collective with fellow students I organised an stand at New Designers and was responsible for the press releases and personal blurbs of participants.
