Sam was 21 when he travelled to Afghanistan looking for adventure and a vague idea he wanted to become a photographer. Over the next few years he returned to Afghanistan a few times and made reportage photo-stores on the war on drugs around the world.
It was a commission from GQ magazine that changed the direction of his career. He was assigned to spend a month with the World’s most glamorous fashion photographer Mario Testino. From that he started creating behind the scenes content for fashion & beauty brands.
Photographs became films, BTS became content and the content became commercials.
Sam’s background in photojournalism and his experience with fashion & beauty combine to bring an authentic aesthetic to his commercials. He feels that his most important role as a director is to bring out the genuine personality of the subject and create a connection with the viewer.
