Hi, I’m Sam Janzen, a multi-disciplinary designer based in London. I currently work as a digital designer utilising a wide range of skills, including graphic design, video editing and motion graphics, web design front-end code and occasionally 3D design.
I work across many disciplines, using any software necessary to innovative solutions for brands and their audiences. With a focus on graphic design, I create usable and polished products through passionate and deliberate design. The problem solver in me strives to the ‘less is more’ mentality, but the branding designer in me ensures that my work retains personality.
Projects
- Freefly VR Brand GuidelinesMaintaining a consistent brand image is crucial. After instigating the Freefly VR brand, I laid out the brand guidelines to solidify the rules. While intended as a tool for others who created content, the guidelines helped to identify the coherent brand image that was already there. Digital DesignerGreat British Chefs
London, United KingdomFull Time
Great British Chefs is the leading platform for food lovers in the UK. During my tenure as designer we increased to 2 million unique monthly users and over 1 million social media followers. My role covered all digital and print design, along with any other creative work required.
Client campaigns were my core focus at Great British Chefs. Our in-house team would create stunning recipes which we would shoot and form into aspirational advertising for premium brands such as Fever-Tree and Belazu, but also lifestyle brands like Vitality.
Many of our campaigns would involve marketing events or other bespoke packages for which I would make all printing collateral required. We also produced two beautiful cookbooks – the first funded by a successful Kickstarter and the second produced on a shoestring.
Part of my creative goal at Great British Chefs was to push it into the new world of social media food content. I prioritised producing shareable video content with the same high-quality finish as our site. During this time, we won three thegoodwebguide awards, including Best Use of Social Media and Website of the Year.
As the only designer for a large website, I also produced new page templates for the site and other front-end development. I redesigned and coded our weekly newsletter to keep it in line with our premium brand, while making it simple for the marketing team to fill in and send out. For larger website changes I created the various responsive sizes in Zeplin/Sketch and sent to our tech team to build using my specifications.

Creative DirectorLUMA-iD
London, United KingdomFull Time
LUMA is a team of industrial design consultants, where my work focused on visual impact and presentation. I identify situations where a project is limited, and think laterally to offer new options to the team. Whilst maintaining my role as a 3D-modelling product designer, I oversee all graphic design and image creation. This involves producing product branding, marketing renders and occasionally crowdfunding videos, while also providing templates and teaching valuable skills to the rest of the team.
