As a play artist, my aim is to provide a form of pleasure to the wearer that goes beyond mere adornment, through creating play-objects that lie between the realms of participatory art and contemporary jewellery. A deep intrigue of the tactile and intimate qualities available within fiber materials has naturally led me to crafting artworks that invite the audience to hold, to squish, to adorn and to play.
Projects
- Dress-up'Dress-up' is a graduate collection of bizarre and eccentric crochet play-objects that enable the experience of childhood dress-up play by inviting the audience to partake in a playful jewellery-wearing experience. Dress-up consists of two key pieces: a play adornment titled 'Superfluous' and a range of connectable play-objects titled 'Connect'. Both Superfluous and Connect allow the wearer to set aside daily concerns in order to act silly through momentarily dressing-up, adorning and playing with objects within the context of a museum/gallery.
