Having graduated from the University of Hull with a degree in history in the summer of 2015, I have since travelled Asia, lived in Melbourne, Australia for six months, and worked within pharmaceutical marketing for a further six months back in the UK. For the last three years I have been freelancing in my spare time for several magazines and record labels, conducting interviews and writing reviews all within the music industry, namely focussing upon electronic music. Plainly put, I am a young guy looking to carve out a career within creative copywriting. I am currently completing the Blackford Centre for Copywriting level 4 diploma course, which will recognise me as a qualified copywriter. Moreover, I will continue to draw upon and increase my extensive experience as a freelancer and writing marketing copy for a major global health standards company.Locked Pro Plan feature
A London-based music magazine, Hyponik has provided me the opportunity to interview some of my favourite globally recognised musicians, in addition to reviewing monthly tracks and pitching ideas to the editor.
regularly write reviews of musical and cultural events held around the city of Hull, whilst also conducting interviews with artists and promoters for magazine features. Adhering to tight deadlines is a given in this role, but nonetheless enjoyable, especially due to our role championing Hull’s successful 2017 City of Culture bid.
NSF International is one of the largest public health standards regulators existing. My role within the marketing team was for the pharmaceutical branch, developing content for their quarterly journals, writing advertising copy, researching competitors, establishing marketing strategies, writing web content to increase the company’s SEO, pitching branding ideas to the board of directors and liaising with new global contacts and executives in order to raise the profile of NSF’s offerings, particularly in Asia. This role placed huge responsibility on my work, with the adverts and brochures that I worked on having audiences in the millions.
Creating my own original stories and sourcing news from around campus and then translating that into humorous and informative content circulated nationwide.
Being somewhat of a history geek, the most natural step for me following college was to embark on a history degree. It was a thoroughly enjoyable three years and the subject strengthened my writing capacity wholesale.
