    SITDOWN COMEDY - WITH CHARMIAN HUGHESSitdown comedy was a community initiative produced for the Dementia patients of Beaumont Hall Care Home, Leicester. The idea was to reignite the basic humorous tendencies which can easily be lost for those with and working around dementia.

    As Production Assistant I demonstrated my passion for creative placemaking and community development. It was my role to quickly interpret a client’s brief and what is needed to achieve. I developed commercial awareness for retail and visitor engagement and what is needed to assist the wider production team in building a memorable experience in city centres. From large scale community engagement projects to themed city festivals, I worked alongside a creative team to develop eye catching events for BID’s, councils and retail that make cities an inclusive, healthy and attractive place to live.

    I can now work in an urban environment with respect for other cultures and habits. I learnt to tackle current issues in a creative and connected way. In doing so, I now understand how to deal with the impact traveling has on our planet and its inhabitants in a responsible way. Developing on skills and tools such as product innovation, intercultural communication, international business ethics, design based research and creative marketing, I saw how cultural assets, events and the arts can be used to tackle mass tourism, re-connect people with their places and how to develop a destination into an attractive place to visit. Achievements- Iamsterdam Concept Winner- By linking locals and tourists on likeminded interests, I developed an app concept that introduces tourists to a lesser known area of Amsterdam whilst offering a meaningful interaction with locals. Created a Culturally Sustainable Tourism Start-up Morocco- Adding to the local economy whilst preserving local traditions.

    I was was able to initiate, lead and evaluate the complete event management process, theoretically and practically: Preproduction (concepting/pitch), main-production (programming, planning, marketing, laws & regulations, finance, technical & logistical plans, crowd management), post-production (aftersales, after life, ROI evaluation). I developed the skills to work in a team and cooperate in a professional manner with commissioning clients, various stakeholders and was confident to deliver all the necessary products along the way. Achievement's- - Created the blueprint for a festival in the heart of Utrecht: Representing the cultural diversity and musical talent within diverse communities. Responsible for the ideation of the festival and marketing. Utilised local cultural assets and platforms to create content and make Utrecht an attractive destination to visit.
