Colombian designer with an emphasis on communication design. I'm Creative director of 4-18 a non-profit organization since 2011 where I recently became head of their editorial branch. My main interests as a designer circle around co-creativity, art direction and editorial design. I have also worked as a Designer for the United Nations HIV Programme UNAIDS. My works have been published in Design and Design, Bells and Whistles Printing with Special Effects and the MacM (Ming Contemporary Art Museum) of Shanghai.
Projects
- SThis project intends to understand the educational experience of students that travelled from the Global South to the Global North pursuing a better future. This collection of stories expresses the complexity and diversity behind their motivations, their goals and expectations; They are conveyed through the use of text, sound, video and illustration and supported on the imaginaries from the tropics and the South as an exotic garden.
- Reflective EducationPublication developed during the master of Graphic Communication Design at Central Saint Martins. Record of students reflecting on the motivations and goals behind pursuing a masters degree. Each interview is portrayed frame by frame showing the moments of doubt and reflection, overlapping visualising how this experience has changed them over time.
- A Manual, How to Bribe a Cop in ColombiaWe provide complete information on how to socialise with the police in different stages of conversation during such encounter. We also provide various case studies, which help you recognise the cop’s intention to bribe, as well as verbal terms and body languages often used during the bribe. In appendix, we list out common paronomasia in the glossary, and the Bill Info includes stories of different bills as well as their nicknames. By the end of the book, we add up 30 bribe stories that comprise as diverse context and situation as possible within the very limited pages. In this book, we focus on traffic violation and police pulled-over, and the stories are mostly from Bogota. But the manual can be easily applied to different situation in Colombia.

- Guide to Nowhere #5Guide to Nowhere is a hybrid between a global photography project and a tourist guide. We want to generate curiosity in the places you visit or where you’re part of and to start to explore them. In the same way as a tourist guide offers you a series of locations to consume, Guide to Nowhere, discovers that which goes further into the experience of the visitor and the resident, of what’s particular and ordinary in each place; reactivating lost spaces in an already inhabited and explored location, in order to show a new panorama from the perspectives of photographers, artists, designers, among others that will allow the revealing of intermediate places. This is the fifth edition of Guide to Nowhere after showcasing beautiful cities like Bordeaux, New York, Milan and Paris it comes to Colombia, to the city of Honda, a small paradise where 4-18 developed his latest project Proyecto Visualización de Honda with support from Arts Collaboratory and Hivos.
