I am currently volunteering with this small theatre group based in Oxford. We are currently working on marketing an acoustic evening in February to raise money for our summer show
As a Steward I was an ambassador for one of the most recogniseable venues in the country. I had to deal with a vast range of customers and queries on a daily basis and was required to be adaptable, organized and to use all my customer relations skills. My role necessitated that I had an up to date knowledge of what is happening in the hall, which bars and restaurants are open and what they are serving, transport links in the surrounding area and the presence of any customers who may require additional assistance. This information changes each shift and often during shift so the role needs an ability to absorb and act on new information quickly and relay it across the radio system
The Space is a small, fringe theatre located in the Isle of Dogs. I volunteered there while studying in London. I undertook a wide variety of administrative tasks many of which helped promote the theatre and its charitable aspects. I regularly updated the social media pages to inform pour patrons of upcoming shows, workshops and ticket offers. I sent out press releases to London based journalists for our press nights and made sure that local publications listed our upcoming shows and events. I wrote an interview for one of the producers of a play that we showcased and this was then posted to the website. I also worked many box office shifts and kept the workshop and patron memberships up to date.
My role as a sales assistant involved in depth consultations with customers and the application of facial, foot and hand treatments with the appropriate products. In depth product knowledge was vital and this extends not only to the products' functions but their ingredients and how these ingredients can help certain skin types. Other roles at the store included running birthday parties for between ten and fourteen children aged 7-14 and creating a number of videos for the store's social media pages. When I progressed up to Key Holder position I was responsible for opening and closing the shop, which included banking and supervising staff.
