About me

Sarah Kathryn Cleaver is a London-based writer and researcher. She completed a BA in photography at London College of Fashion and became interested in writing while working on her dissertation on the subject of fashion photography's unrequited love stories. Cleaver worked as editorial assistant at SHOWstudio, contributing essays to projects and assisting Nick Knight with creative research. She has previously worked at the artist run gallery Transition as a gallery assistant, contributing articles on film and culture to both their publications Arty and Garageland. Her photographic and moving image work has been exhibited both at Transition and the Sluice art fair. Cleaver also works as a freelance researcher, assisting V&A curator Oriole Cullen.

  • Currently assisting curator Oriole Cullen with research for an upcoming V&A exhibition on the contemporary history of colour in fashion and design. Previously researched for a V&A publication about British fashion illustrators and photographers. Undertaking independent research tasks, utilising the V&A archives, National Art Library, University of the Arts libraries and online archives, databases and search engines. Suggesting possible artefacts for inclusion in exhibitions. Keeping methodical records of my progress, sorting and delivering relevant information.

  • Writing core copy for the site. Research for all key SHOWstudio projects and interviews, as well as creative research for Nick Knight. Managing the blog and social media channels including Twitter and Facebook and ensuring all content was checked and posted in a timely manner. Responsible for building and writing weekly newsletter, as well as ensuring delivery of newsletter assets on time. Managing, training and delegating work to interns. Sub-editing and fact checking. Responsible for promoting the SHOWstudio Shop; including liaising with the e-commerce manager and putting necessary systems in place. Liaising with PRs. Liaising with contributing journalists covering London and international fashion weeks, managing ticket requests and schedules. Transcribing and editing interviews. Responsible for contributor bios and ensuring the correct credits for all projects. Assisted SHOWstudio’s curator of exhibitions in researching for some of SHOWstudio’s exhibitions. Co-edited a series of film interviews. Contributed essays to SHOWstudio projects.
