Since graduating from Falmouth University I have been working both as an illustrator and also in the speciality coffee industry as a manager, consultant and barista. My ambition is to apply the transferrable management skills I have gained since graduation to a career in the creative industries.Locked Pro Plan feature
I have worked here part time and assisted with opening the coffee shop at a beautiful new co working space in Spitalfeilds.
I have worked for a range of editorial clients as well as making personal work. My images consist of a combination of hand drawn line and texture with limited colours. My work is usually inspired by people and people watching.
I gained valuable experience that came with launching a collaboration between Jack Wills and my previous workplace, Espresso Hut from the first day. I trained an all new team in baking, cooking and barista skills and was adapting the menu to suit the clients in the area during my time there. I also was responsible for the catering of internal Jack Wills press and social influencer events where I created and organised the production of food for up to one hundred people. During my time here we received high praise from the popular Londons Best Coffee app and grew a large base of loyal customers.
I was delighted to have the opportunity to work at one of the best respected speciality coffee shops in London. In my last few months working at the shop I was appointed the role of manager, where responsibilities included orders, writing rotas, calculating monthly hours, interviewing new staff and ensuring all daily tasks were completed as well as working as a barista, cook, and baker. After learning a lot about coffee and proving myself as a good worker and manager with high standards and expectations of my staff that aligned with the owners vision I was given the opportunity by the shop owners to move to run a new site in Soho.
We were a collective of nine illustrators that formed at Falmouth University. In total, we created eleven zines and had two pop up shop/exhibition events. As a central member of the group I gained valuable experience here, such as communicating with guest artists, assisting on the design and layout of the zines, writing copy, organising Kickstarter campaigns for funding. I also assisted in the curation and organisation of the exhibitions and liaised with various stockists and went to illustration fairs around the country.
I was student rep in my final year and received the Outstanding Studentship award at the end of the course for gaining fair access to printmaking facilities for the illustration course.
