About me
Literature graduate from Aberyswtyth University (2.1 Hons) (2016). Upon completion of my degree, I studied to be a Secondary School English Teacher at Strathclyde University, however, on reflection, this is no longer an avenue I wish to pursue. I am seeking employment the field of Marketing, PR, Recruitment, or Advertising, where I feel that my skill set will be best utilized and developed. In addition to studying English Literature, I also studied the core modules in Marketing during the first two years of my degree. Throughout my degree I was heavily involved in wider university life, especially in student media and lacrosse. I competed regularly for the Women's 1st team and was elected into Aberystwyth Student Media Society's committee as Lifestyle Editor for two consecutive years. Here, I led a team of dedicated writers and started a Lifestyle radio show. This gave me experience of editing for Wordpress and also for InDesign. I also founded a Rounders Club, of which I was President. Furthermore, I played rugby sevens twice at university in the annual tournament and was a member of Aberystwyth's Choral Society, performing in 2015's Christmas rendition of Handel's Messiah. In terms of volunteering and fundraising, I completed the 2014 Great North Swim for Macmillan Cancer Support, raising over £300, as well as 2014's Airfield Anarchy, raising money for RAF charities. Simultaneously, I volunteered for the Student Switch Off campaign to promote energy efficiency strategies for students, in both face-to-face communications and also through the use of social media. Since then, I have volunteered for Staff Reception at 2014's Royal Air Force's Charitable Trust's Royal International Air Tattoo and also as a Student Hero, helping new first years move into their halls. Additionally, I have volunteered as part of Strathclyde's Continual Professional Development Committee, organizing guest speakers and events for my cohort and also volunteered for Glasgow City Mission. At the Mission, I assisted in evening drop-ins for homeless people, serving them food and hot drinks. I also volunteered for the English teaching sessions for refugees, helping to teach English as a foreign language to many people from various backgrounds and each with a different mother tongue. I am currently working and living abroad until December 16th 2017. Whilst I am living in Italy, I am learning Italian at the University of Pisa with the hope to achieve A1 certification in Italian.
