One of the main aims of the NAO’s work is to use the knowledge and insight gained through their studies to influence better use of public money by government. My role as marketing manager was pivotal to this, helping the organisation to identify common themes, engage with the right stakeholders and use relevant channels to communicate messages and thought leadership.
Key responsibilities
• Working with audit teams across the organisation to gain maximum influence from their reports through re-purposing content and using targeted communications
• Mapping stakeholders and planning engagement strategies to create opportunities around events, sponsorships and thought leadership
• Managing all events activity, including liaison and negotiation with stakeholders, partner organisations and suppliers
• Regularly reporting business information to the Leadership Team, eg: analysis and evaluation of comms activity and campaigns, recommendations for future projects and budget projections
• Producing and managing email campaigns and newsletters to targeted audiences
• Planning and creating content for social media and other digital channels
• Presenting complex information in digital formats, eg: infographics, interactive PDFs
• Managing the events section of the NAO website using the CMS (Word Press)
• Working with IT colleagues in improving the content and functionality of both the intranet and external website
• Advising senior leaders on brand/reputation management, leading on brand awareness and market research projects
• Key player in the development of the employer brand and graduate recruitment campaigns, working with in-house teams and external agencies
