About me
As a highly experienced and passionate multimedia professional, I am excited to submit my personal statement for consideration. With a strong background in all things media, I am confident that I have the necessary skills, experience, and drive to excel in this role. My career in media began as an intern at a post-production studio where I learned Motion graphics and animation alongside video editing. Since then, I have honed my skills in shooting, writing, editing, and reporting for both television and online media. I am equally adept at working independently or as part of a team, and my thriving social media presence is a testament to my ability to create engaging content that resonates with audiences. As a Media Consultant, I set up a successful production company before joining the BBC in October 2018 as a video journalist. During my time at the BBC, I produced, filmed, and edited over 200 original videos that significantly boosted social media engagement and increased followers across all platforms. I created four original series, three of which ran every week. To ensure that each series was tailored to suit the platforms, I designed graphics templates and branded each series accordingly. In February 2020, I was on a three-week development attachment with the Digital Video Team in London and Norwich, where we produced daily news videos for social and the website. Additionally, I created a food series called AROMA, which had five successful episodes across all social platforms. Thanks to my team spirit, I was nominated for the BBC News Awards in 2019 and 2020 (Unsung Hero) by my colleagues. Furthermore, Aroma won the top prize award at the BBC World Service Social Media Awards. In the last two years, I have worked alongside the BBC team on the partnership with the Gates Foundation covering stories around WASH across Africa. I also had the opportunity to join the BBC World Service’s management team on a six-month attachment to produce a bi-weekly video newsletter highlighting the work done to engage female audiences. Working with language editors, I self-shot, presented, directed, and designed the motion templates. This experience has further inspired me to do more and make a greater impact. I have a Masters in Filmmaking degree, and this has not only helped in improving my already existing skills, it has greatly helped in building new skills in storytelling as I currently Lecture in Creative skills – Documentary Filmmaking to impact knowledge unto the next generation of storytellers. Overall, my passion for multimedia, my extensive experience in the field, and my proven track record of creating engaging and impactful films make me a strong candidate for this role. I look forward to the opportunity to bring my skills and expertise to your team. Sincerely, Sarah Tiamiyu
