About me
A Textile Designer specialising in woven textiles, but have explored other disciplines including: knit, stitch and printed textiles. I have a growing motivation to develop a more sustainable practice by increasing my usuage of recycled, natural and organic materials. I enjoy the challenge of sourcing the right materials and adopting appropiate technical techniques to achieve the desired visual aesthetic and tactile qualities. The possibilities that I envision my work tailoring to as an outcome are open, and through digital and hand drawing and 3D mock ups I experiment with different design visualisations tailored to the project requirement.
Projects
  • A Slow down
A Slow downThe foundational inspiration for this project stems from the slow design movement, a sustainable design strategy that aims to slower the speed of people, use of resources and promote healthy behavioural habits towards consumption. My practice endorses this concept by embracing different woven and dyeing techniques that acknowledge the potential of handcraft skills to create usable contemporary textile pieces, while counterbalancing the speed of manufactured materials by bigger brands. • Sway Project
Sway ProjectThis project draws inspiration from warming neutral colours and high contrasts in light and shadows created on those hot sunny days during the covid-19 lockdown. To reflect the organic qualities in the imagery as well consider sustainability issues, only natural fibres were experimented with, including organic cottons, linens, merino and high twist wools and some upcycled mohair. Stripes, gradients and elevating the surfaces from 2D to 3D became key visual explorations in the project.
  • Sustainability-Bioplastics
Sustainability-BioplasticsIn this project bioplastic and bioyarn samples were made and visualised into potential product ideas. From this I then mocked up website design ideas for selling these products and providing workshops on how to make algae-based and cornstarch bioplastics. Throughout this project the pros and cons about different types of bioplastics were evaluated. This project was carried out under Covid-19 lockdown circumstances; the project started off very practical and then progressed in an alternative di
  • Premiere Vision Project
Premiere Vision ProjectA woven textile sample made for the Premiere Vision trade show 2020. Recycled merino wool, silks weft yarns and linen and cotton warp yarns used in gradation twill structures on a pointed draft loom.
  • Colour Project-Iridescence
Colour Project-IridescenceWoven samples all made from silk fibres that are hand dyed. The block draft based structures and dipped dyed yarns create this contrast of structure and gradation that transformed into this psychedelic look.

A 3rd year student specialising in weave, though have also developed basic skills in knit, print and stitch. I have worked on both self-directed and collaborative projects and have explored textiles in the context of both fashion and spacial design. Underpinning my practical work is critical theory exploring diverse contexts surrounding the art and design industries.
