I am a recent graphic design graduate of University of Suffolk. I love to design, write, craft and experiment. My work placements at Pentagram and Spring have been invaluable insights into the working practices of a design studio. My post graduation intention is to work with a great team of equally curious and experimental problem solvers. My degree was focused on conceptual thinking, underlining those concepts with research and presenting those ideas in a clear manner. I'm a team player, zero ego and a maker of one mean Ny Cheesecake. A second work placement at Spring for the duration of one week. I created items for publication for three campaigns as well as organised presentation materials. A great team to work with, I contributed to various design related tasks, assisting other designers during a busy period.
Two week work placement creating posters for Do The Green Thing, a non profit run under Pentagram partner Naresh Ramchandani.
Work placement: Worked on live briefs, contributing to branding and identity, research, copy edits, art working and other tasks that arose during my time at Spring.
I constructed animated Christmas window displays for Macy's, Sak's Fifth Avenue, Lord and Taylors in New York City
Hand varnishing interiors and exteriors of luxury custom wooden sailing yachts. Detailed work included high luster varnish and all interior paint work. The role involved communicating with multiple departments to meet deadlines, creating work schedules and instructing novice painters on hand varnishing techniques.
Previously a monastery and a military base, the island of Certosa was transformed into a maritime oriented centre. This included boat building, repairs and finish work along with sailing schools and moorings. As one of the initial team when the island was in development, I maintained all aspects of the finishing department. This included application of paint and varnish on all typical Venetian boats, stocking materials, creating schedules for assistants, assisting with repairs and boat movements, and working with all other departments on the island to complete projects to the highest standard.
A self initiated apprenticeship, I left the U.S to become an apprentice gondola builder in Venice, Italy. I had previous experience as a carpenter with working knowledge of Italian. The experience enabled me to learn the dying art building gondolas as well improve my painting skills. When the yard closed for financial reasons, my skill set as a painter was invaluable for becoming the head finisher at the newly opened Vento di Venezia.
